Val’s Priorities

Civil Rights

A Commonwealth where all are protected equally under the law.

Val believes our Commonwealth is strongest when everyone is treated equally under the law. Val stands with the LGBTQ+ community against discrimination, and supports passage of the Equality Act to protect LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians from discrimination in housing and employment. She also supports ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment and removing the time limit on the ratification process so women are finally treated equally under the constitution.

Val also wants the U.S. Senate to tackle the race-based barriers to education, employment, good wages, and access to capital. We must work to aggressively right these systemic wrongs by fighting for greater equity when it comes to health care and economic opportunity for Pennsylvanians of color.

We must also fight back against the disenfranchisement of voters of color and pass laws to expand protections for every Pennsylvanians’ right to vote.

And, Val believes we must ensure that all Pennsylvanians and Americans living with disabilities are treated with the dignity they deserve. That means following through on the promises made in the Americans with Disabilities Act to give every person with a disability the opportunity to work a good-paying job, get an education, and access public spaces and virtual resources, all without prejudice.
